A VIETNAMESE man has been jailed for two years after he was found hiding inside a Harrow cannabis factory.
Van Hai Bui, 41, also faces being sent back to Vietnam after he was found guilty of cannabis production.
Officers from Harrow-on-the-Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team raided the house, in Chatsworth Gardens, Harrow, earlier this year. Neighbours had raised suspicions about the property, which had blacked out windows.
Technology used by London Fire Brigade and electricity supplier EDF also revealed that high amounts of power and heat was being generated from inside. When officers swooped on the house they found Bui hiding by the back door.
The two-bedroom house was stuffed full of cannabis plants and equipment and younger plants were also found in the loft. Around 500 plants were seized in total.
Sergeant Pete Law from Harrow-on-the-Hill SNT said: "Cannabis cultivation will not be tolerated in Harrow Borough. Harrow on the Hill SNT are currently working with owners of premises and residents on ways to identify suspected cannabis factories. I would urge anyone who suspects there might me a cannabis factory in their neighbourhood to contact Harrow Police on 03001231212."
The two-year sentence, handed down to Bui at Harrow Crown Court last week, means he is likely to be deported back to his country, police said.
