A MAN has been jailed for life after being found guilty of stabbing a man to death in Shepherd's Bush.

Karl Lashley, 44, of Askew Road, was sentenced to life in prison, to serve a minimum of 18 years, at the Old Bailey on Tuesday (21/12) for killing Jaabe Roberts.

Lashley plunged a small kitchen knife into the 28-year-old's heart after a row at his flat on June 9 this year.

Police and ambulance crews arrived at 12.40am to find him collapsed in the street outside the flat he used to live, above Marsh Property Furnishers and Dino's Emporium, and he died the next day.

The court heard how the pair had fallen out over rumours that Mr Roberts' has slept with Lashley's partner.

Mr Roberts had visited Lashley's bedsit on the night of his murder and had recently moved into a Salvation Army hostel for alcoholics and homless people in Edith Road, Hammersmith.

Detective Inspector Tony Bishop, of the Metropolitan Police Service Homice and Serious Crime Command, said: "We are committed to making London a safer city for everyone.

"The investigating team worked tirelessly to ensure that all available evidence was put before the court.

"I would like to thank the many witnesses and the community in Shepherd's Bush who came forward to give evidence. Our thoughts remain with the family of Jaabe Robers who have lost a brother and a son."

Police investigating the murder arrested three men and a woman on the day of his death and swooped on a caravan park in west Sussex to arrest a man on June 14 but all were released without charge.

Lashley was arrested on June 17 and charged with Mr Roberts' murder.
