A FESTIVAL of colour, activity and music will take over a park.

Gladstonbury will light up Gladstone Park in Dollis Hill on Sunday and feature musicians, artists, a talent show and a huge range of sports throughout the day.

There will also be a vast array of stalls and food on offer, as well as a funfair, in the Dollis Hill Lane park.

Janet Kay, Victor Romero and Carole Thompson, stars of the hit reggae show The Lovers Rock Monologues, are among the biggest attractions who will perform on the main stage.

Aspiring singers and groups who are 25 or under can compete to perform on the main stage and Harlesden’s G-Starr will make a guest appearance.

In the Cycle Zone, there will be free security marking and maintenance by Dr Bike and the chance to try out BMX riding. Anyone feeling full of energy can help generate power for the music to keep playing.

There will be free taster sessions in netball, rugby, basketball, tennis, volleyball and football in the Sports Zone and, as part of Brent Dance Month, there will be dance sessions guaranteed to get your toes tapping.

The most handsome and talented dogs will be rewarded in the Woofstock Dog Show, which starts at 3pm with pre-registration at 2.30pm. There is a £1 entry fee. Categories include prettiest pup, best rescue and best trick.

Councillor James Denselow, Brent Council’s lead member for customers and citizens, said: “Brent Celebrates Gladstonbury Festival is going to be a fantastic, fun event with loads of great entertainment and lots to do. I urge residents to get down to Gladstone Park for what is sure to be one of the highlights locally of the year.”

The park is a short walk from Dollis Hill Tube on the Jubilee Line and nearby buses are the 226, 232, 182, 245 and 332. There is no car parking available on site.
