AN actor from Isleworth has made his film debut in a Bollywood smash movie.

Philip Scott Wallace, 25, from Isleworth landed the role as Major Robert Gill in Ajintha after finishing drama school.

The film, which has Ntin Desai, the art director from Slumdog Millionaire on board, tells the true story of a British soldier who fell in love with an Indian villager.

Mr Wallace, a University of Manchester and LAMBA graduate, said: “I was immensely privileged to be able to take part in this film, which tells a really amazing story. It was great to play an old-fashioned hero.

“I’m from Hounslow and my family still live around here so it would be great if the Watermans in Brentford screened it.”

The former Isleworth and Syon schoolboy travelled to India to take part in the film, which has choreography by Ashwini Kalsekar, a dance teacher from Lansdowne Road in Hounslow.

She said: “I teach classical Indian dance in Hounslow so it was really exciting to take part in this film.”

Mr Wallace has also just finished a TV pilot and is back on the auditioning circuit. He added: “I went from Shakespeare on stage to a film debut, so who knows what will turn up next.”
