A DELAPIDATED roof housing a well used Isleworth facility is to be replaced thanks to a promise of £250,000.
It is good news for members of the Isleworth Society and the St John's Residents Association who were concerned about where the money would come from to mend the roof at the St John's Community Centre.
Campaigners say the work is long overdue, with a hole in one part of the building letting water inside.
The cash has been set aside in this year's council budget after negotiations took place between community group leader Cllr Phil Andrews and the leader of the London Borough of Hounslow Cllr Peter Thompson.
The total cost of the repair work is yet to be calculated but Cllr Andrews said he was "confident" that the works will be completed.
He said: "This is a very well used community facility and an important resource for local people. It is somewhere were local people can interact. It is an essential community hub and it makes no sense to allow it to fall into disrepair."
