IN THE Gazette issue of May 15, 2009 we published a story in which there were several inaccuracies, which we are happy to correct.

The article was a report on the inquest hearing into the death of Paul Wealleans, who died on April 27, 2008.

We are happy to clarify that Mr Wealleans was in fact a retired telecommunications worker, having retired from his job four years previously.

We also apologise for the incorrect spelling of his name in the original story.

Our story stated that Mr Wealleans was a heavy smoker and that he was admitted to Ealing Hospital on February 15, 2008 complaining of leg pains.

In fact, he was a former heavy smoker and was admitted to hospital having suffered a heart attack. We would also like to clarify that Mr Wealleans suffered a cardiac arrest on April 27, 2008, rather than a respiratory heart attack.

We are sorry for any distress these errors may have caused the family.
