The inquest into the death of Arnis Zalkans has been deferred until the conclusion of the inquest into the death of Alice Gross.

The 14-year-old school-girl's body was found hidden in the River Brent on September 30, almost a month after she went missing from her home in Hanwell.

The body of Mr Zalkalns, prime suspect in her murder, was found hanging in woodland in Boston Manor Park on October 4.

Mr Zalkalns served seven years in prison in his native Latvia for murdering his wife Rudite.

He had been living in Ealing with a new partner and child at the time of Brentside High School pupil Alice's disappearance on August 28.

CCTV showed him on the Grand Union Canal towpath on a bicycle 15 minutes after Alice had walked past.

The inquest into the death of the 14-year-old was opened and adjourned on October 10 at West London Coroner's Court.

The court heard how Alice's body was found by London Fire Brigade divers, wrapped and weighted down in the River Brent.

A cause of death was not established by a postmortem examination and further tests are being carried out. The coroner adjourned proceedings until January 29, 2015, to allow those tests and the police investigation to progress.

A new date for Mr Zalkans' inquest will be scheduled in due course.
