INDIA'S answer to Morris dancing was among the highlights of a festival which drew hundreds of people to Hounslow's Inwood Park.

Youngsters performed the traditional Tamil dance Kolattam, in which girls strike sticks to make music, at Hounslow Commufest on Saturday (July 27).

But, for all its similarities with traditional English folk dancing, there was not a handkerchief or bell in sight.

Crowds flocked to the park, in Inwood Road, just off Hounslow High Street, for the annual festival, now in its fifth year.

As well as dancing, they enjoyed a football tournament, arts and crafts sessions, live music and much more during the day.

The free event was organised by Hounslow Community Alliance, set up by the RCCG Dominion Parish For All Nations to bring people from all backgrounds together.

Organiser Ibukun Shorinwa said it was a huge success, attracting about 300 people, and thanked everybody involved.
