A 'cruel and heartless' conman who claimed he was an immigration professor to fleece clients of his Paddington law firm is facing jail.

Max Kingsley, 60, who worked at the National and International Law Advisory and Co. in Edgware Road, charged immigrants a fortune for his services.

At Southwark Crown Court on Friday, he was found guilty of 12 counts of providing immigration advice while not qualified, but was cleared of four similar offences.

Judge John Price said: "You were cruel and heartless, and gave advice when you should not have done so."

Kingsley, of Lewes Crescent, Margate, is due to be sentenced on September 11.
