Lyn Hanlon runs the Cranford Good Neighbours lunch club for elderly and disabled people.

She also organises twice-weekly lunches, trips out, visits to shows pub lunches and other activities and has now been named as a superhero for giving up so much of her time to help others. She also takes full responsibility for a number of disabled people in her care.

Last night she was named as a Superhero in the Uxbridge Gazette Local Heroes Awards.

But in typical style of all our winners, she does not think she are deserving of her space in the spotlight.

"I'm totally embarrassed," said Lyn as she clutched her trophy.

"But thank you to my members who nominated me... I'll shoot them next week!"

Members of the club say Lyn has changed their lives for the better.

"I just love what I do, absolutely" she said.

She has been running the scheme since 2000.

"It's a very nice job, it's a lovely crowd."

The awards were held at the Hayes campus of Uxbridge College of Coldharbour Lane last night (Thursday, June 5).

A total of 25 people were recognised for their work in the community.
