Whoever takes on the job of HS2 Ltd chief executive will receive a salary of £200,000, according to reports.
The Department for Transport has yet to find a permanent official to take on the role, although current chief executive Alison Munro is among the top contenders.
The government-backed company re-advertised the role after the project moved into a new implementation phase in January when Transport Secretary Justine Greening confirmed HS2 would go ahead.
