A MOTHER has removed her child from school after claiming it failed to deal with bullying which has gone on for more than four years.

Tara Stewart,31, of Botwell Crescent, Hayes, is the mother of Emily Walters, eight, who attends Wood End Park Community Primary School in Judge Heath Lane,Hayes.

She says her daughter has been repeatedly kicked, punched and spat on by another pupil. Miss Stewart has expressed her concerns to the school more than 20 times over the last year and has broken down in tears twice herself in front of teachers.

She said: "The school have told us they cannot remove the child from the school (and) I can't understand how far they would expect things to go on for before they can do something.

"Two weeks ago Emily was crying in a corner because the bullying was stopping her from playing with her friends but it has got to the point where Emily doesn't even tell me what's happening and I have to find out from her teachers."

Pauline Nixon, head of inclusion at Hillingdon Council, said: "Hillingdon Council, along with all schools in the borough takes bullying extremely seriously.

"The council has a good track record of working with schools to tackle the problem of bullying and Wood End Park Community School is no exception to this, and has been recognised by Ofsted as having a 'good' record for behaviour, taking good care of all its pupils including the most vulnerable.

"Each school has a duty to ensure that all of the correct procedures and processes have been followed before any child is excluded from a school."
