AS A child, I would look forward to seeing an ice-cream van; it was what summers were all about (Ice-cream vans are frozen out, Gazette, March 17).
My children also love to get an ice-cream while out shopping or at the park.
I don't believe that Hillingdon Council, or any other council, should have the right to just do away with a tradition that has been a part of growing up for decades and enjoyed by so many people of all ages.
As a parent I of course encourage healthy eating for my family and I believe that I have the right to choose whether or not to let my children have an ice cream now and then.
If the council is really committed to healthy eating, why doesn't it shut down just a few of the fast food restaurants that cause litter, greasy smells and, of course, obesity.
Surely our council tax money could be put to better use than some killjoy in an office trying to think up yet another way to get our backs up.
