A LUCKY gambler has scooped an incredible £253,000 at the Hounslow branch of Gala Bingo.
The winner, a woman from Hounslow who has chosen to remain anonymous was playing at the Staines Road branch of Gala when she won the full house prize of £3,000 – and because she had hit the "High 5 jackpot", her winnings shot up to £128,000.
The luck didn't stop there for players in the bingo hall as due to the nature of the "High 5 jackpot", when the player calls "house" on number five, half of the overall jackpot is shared between every player in the hall at the time of the win.
Meaning 32 players won a share of the remaining £125,000, taking home £3,906.25 each.
Lynda McNamara, 64, one of the individuals who took home a share of the winnings said: "I have been going to Gala Hounslow since it opened and was sat in my regular seat very close to the jackpot winner when she shouted ‘house’. We were all so excited for her.
"When we realised that we were all winners too you would have thought there were a thousand people in the room with all the noise. I plan to take my grandchildren to Disneyland, which I would have never been able to afford without this win. It really has been life changing for us all; it’s like a dream come true”
The win was the biggest individual prize share ever given out following a High 5 win at Gala.
Gala Bingo Hounslow Club General Manager Rick Espey said: “The winner has been coming to the club for many years and we were all so excited for her when she shouted ‘house’. The whole club was clapping and cheering and the atmosphere was electric.
"Because of the way that the High 5 game works, everyone who was playing that afternoon won some money which made it especially nice.”
