STUDENTS at Hounslow Manor School have teamed up to help their impoverished counterparts in Nepal.
The school, in Prince Regent Road, Hounslow, has agreed to 'adopt' and support the 78 pupils at Samajkalyan Primary School in the country's Kaverpalanchok district.
The school council will organise fundraising events to help improve attendance at the school by providing youngsters with access to basic needs like food, water and sanitation.
Hounslow Manor is the first school in the borough to sign up to the scheme, run by the charity ASIA Onlus, which has worked in Tibet and Nepal for more than 20 years.
Nepalese ambassador Dr Suresh Chalise attended a launch event at the school last month, where audiences were treated to traditional Nepalese dances performed by Hounslow Manor pupils from the country.
