Pub landlords in Hounslow who are illegally playing rugby matches to their punters are being warned that TV licence officers are clamping down.
TV Licensing and the British Institute of Inkeeping (BII) are teaming up to urge local publicans to check they are correctly covered if they are showing matches during the RBS 6 Nations tournament.
Officers will be visiting pubs and bars which do not have a licence throughout the tournament which starts on February 6.
If an unlicensed set is found, the landlord or manager risks prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.
Last year they caught more than 1,000 individuals and businesses in Hounslow watching or recording TV programmes illegally.
