FOUR members of staff at a Hounslow based finance company are bracing themselves for a 52 mile walk on one of Britain's oldest roads.
Operations manager Geoff Wigg, 29 from Pinner, senior operations coordinator Raj Deol, 31, of Berkeley Avenue in Hounslow, operations coordinator Jay Bawa, 39, of Hounslow, and account manager Sonia Ubhi, 25, of Bulstrode Road, Hounslow, are to take on The Ridge Walk 2011 on May 14 and 15.
The staff all work for Hiatchi Capital Business Finance, based at The Wallbrook Business Centre, and are raising money for charity Sense, which supports children and adults who are deaf and blind.
The 24 hour walk will see the team tackle The Ridgeway, starting in Watlington, Oxfordshire and finish at Barbury Castle, Wilshire.
They have been giving up many hours at the weekend to train and have held fundraising events including a special Pancake Day event and a Grand National sweepstake so fellow employees can support their efforts.
Marie Dunkley, head of sales at Hitachi Capital Business Finance, said: "The fundraising efforts and commitment to the walk have been really impressive. So far the team has raised a total close to £3,000 through fund raising donations. We wish them the very best of luck with the trail.
"I am really proud of the team and impressed by the hard work and effort spent in getting ready for the walk. It looks likely that a good amount of money will be raised, which is fantastic."
Miss Ubhi said: "I am nervous, but excited about the walk. All the team has put a huge amount of effort into the training leading up to the walk – lets hope it all pays off.
"The sense of achievement is the motivating factor. I’m sure this will be a life time experience that will be remembered for years to come. Good luck team."
