LEAFLETS offering advice about sexual problems must be prominently displayed at Hounslow's only strip club.

It is one of 50 conditions attached to the licence of Mist Gentlemen's Club, which opened in High Street on November 20.

The pamphlets, published by the Family Planning Association, must be displayed by all cash machines in the venue, according to the terms of the licence.

Drinks must also cost more than in surrounding bars and there must be four bouncers on duty at all times, including two on the door.

Any customers requiring a taxi must be escorted to the vehicle, and their name, destination and the taxi registration number are to be recorded by staff.

The opening of Mist in the old Rileys snooker hall sparked outrage in some sectors of the community.

Although Hounslow Council was powerless to prevent its opening under current legislation, concerns about the lack of publicity have led to a change in policy. Civic Centre bosses are also considering whether to adopt new rules that give local authorities greater control over adult entertainment venues.

Deputy council leader Ruth Cadbury said: "We don't believe establishments of this kind are appropriate in town centres and residential areas in the borough, and we'll be reviewing the law and lobbying to make it more relevant.

"Unfortunately the licence could not have been refused for the premises and we had no legal grounds to refuse granting this.

"However, what we were able to do was add a long list of conditions attached to the licence, and we will be working closely with the police to ensure these are adhered to."
