A CARE home has appealed for donations to help create a retro 50s-style living room.

Staff at Cloisters care home, in Bath Road, Hounslow, are looking for furniture and fittings from the decade to remind residents of their youth.

"Some of our residents have dementia and keeping them active and stimulating their minds is a key part of caring for them," said the home's activities coordinator Alexandra Henderson.

"We are scouring jumble sales and the internet for items dating back to – or in the style of – the 1950s. But we would be extremely grateful if anyone has something – for example a 1950s standard lamp, Bakelite telephone or old-style radio – they would be prepared to donate to bring back memories for our residents."

Anyone who thinks they can help is asked to call the home on 020 8572 4131.
