TEMPERATURES in Hillingdon smashed the record for the borough's hottest October at the weekend.
The Met Office confirmed that the mercury hit a blistering 29.0 degrees Celsius (84.2 Fahrenheit) on Saturday afternoon (October 1) at the RAF Northolt weather station.
Even Sunday, which was a whole degree cooler, exceeded the previous record of 27.2C set for the same location on October 1, 1985.
Monday saw temperatures dip to 26C, but this is still significantly higher than the 15C average for October in London.
More typical autumnal weather is forecast for the end of this week.
