STAFF at a Heathrow hotel are still pinching themselves after getting the chance to see Team GB's record-breaking medal winners in the flesh.

The Crowne Plaza London-Heathrow Hotel, near Cherry Lane Roundabout, on the A408, Harmondsworth, rolled out the red carpet to greet the returning Olympians yesterday (Monday).

The awesome men and women, who between them scooped 47 medals, including 19 gold, arrived at Heathrow Airport on a special BA aeroplane called Pride, complete with gold nose cone.

They were then whisked to the hotel to greet the press and be mobbed by waiting fans who were jostling to get the best position. Family and other friends and loved ones were also able to reunite themselves with the heroic sports stars.

On arrival they had been greeted by Nick Campbell, general manager and his staff. Mr Campbell said: "We were really honored to welcome the team here at the hotel, their achievement, coupled with their modesty made it a truly proud to be British moment.

"One of those occasions, which will be remembered forever!"
