A hot air balloon parade with mascot Felty the bear launched the community fun day in Feltham on Wednesday (May 27).

With the sun beaming down, around 2,000 people descended on the town centre to check out one of the highlights of the Feltham Festival calendar, bringing together families from Bedfont, Feltham and Hanworth.

A group of around 40 children got involved in the morning workshop making their own mini hot air balloons ahead of the parade led by a giant hot air balloon which was made by local adult volunteers.

Charlotte Skinner of Feltham Arts said: "It was wonderful and the weather was with us this year.

"The event created such an atmosphere across the town centre - a very colourful town centre.

"The craft workshops were super busy. We had 40 children in the workshop and around 50 people in the parade."

Other highlights of the day included a collaboration between a jazz band and The Voice of Highfields group, singing Happy, which went down a storm with the crowds. And Sam the juggler, from Circus Suburbia, proved a hit with the children.

The O'Connor Irish Dancers and performers from the Outside the Box dance company were on stage simultaneously keeping the older children entertained, while The Tiger Boat Theatre Company put on a puppet show of Goldilocks and the Three Bears for younger children.

Upcoming highlights on the Feltham Festival 2015 calendar, organised by the Feltham Arts team, includes the Hounslow Has Talent finals on June 13, Rugby World Cup arts and crafts workshops, a summer concert at St Dunstan's Church in Feltham on July 11 with a French theme, and plenty more.
