I AM writing in reply to your editorial comment on the letters page on Thursday, March 5, 2009 regarding the case of Mr Gellner ("Sexual predator worked on children's ward").

I want to reassure your readers that all the correct and appropriate checks were carried out by the nursing agency this gentleman was employed by.

As the police themselves said publicly: "No blame should be attached to the hospitals involved. They did everything they could to carry out the criminal checks on him and they came back showing nothing."

I think it is unfair to label this as "yet another blunder" at our hospital.
