This is how Hammersmith Hospital will look after a £100million revamp which will see it become one of Europe's biggest research centres into heart disease.
Scientists hope the development will speed up the transfer of breakthroughs from the laboratory to patients.
Arthritis, diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, transplantation, immunology and obesity will also be investigated at the six-storey building in Du Cane Road, Shepherd's Bush.
The Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility will house 300 scientists and doctors who will also to study psychiatry, neurology and metabolic medicine.
Imperial College Healthcare chief executive and principal Professor Stephen Smith said: "This is one of the largest investments in translational research in Europe.
"We have been able to achieve this because of our unique position and reputation as Britain's first Academic Health Science Centre."
Work on the 13,0000 square metre building begins in April next year and it is due to be opened in 2011.
