More than £100,000 was made for Mount Vernon Hospital this year by its Comforts Fund charity.

The money was raised by various shops and outlets within Mount Vernon and has all gone back into providing vital equipment for the hospital.

This includes endoscopy equipment, wheelchairs, refurbishment of rooms, drug trolleys, 200 pairs of headsets for Radio Mount Vernon and a lymphoedema quadscan for the cancer centre, to highlight just a few.

The fund has also provided money for Christmas trees for wards and for Christmas presents for patients who have to stay in over the holiday.

The Comforts Fund exists thanks to dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly all the year round.

Chairman Jan Sutton thanked all the volunteers for their hard work over the year and said she hopes 2014 will be just as successful.
