A burglar from Westminster who targeted young and vulnerable hospital patients was jailed for 20 months.

At Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday, James Cleary, 47, admitted four counts of burglary from hospitals and businesses across London.

He stole from young and vulnerable hospital patients and visitors between September 20, 2007, and October 20, 2008.

Cleary was arrested and charged by officers from Westminster Crime Squad on October 25 last year.

Det Con Dave Murphy from Westminster North Crime Squad said: "Mr Cleary preyed on vulnerable and defenceless patients and their families. While they were receiving treatment, he was taking their belongings."
