BUTTERFLIES gave a real lift to the first ever Meadow House Day, which raised £2,120 for the hospice.

The event in Pitshanger Lane,Ealing, on Saturday had a butterfly theme, the hospice's logo, with a butterfly trail and 'tree' of raffle prizes, and celebrated its 21st anniversary.

It also boasted the buy-a-brick wall and children's entertainment from Mike Mondeo.

The main aim of the day was to boost coffers for the hospice extension in the grounds of Ealing Hospital,

as well as to raise awareness of its services. It was the brainchild of Walter and Bee Wyeth of the Pitshanger Bookshop, who rallied traders to give donations, and ran a Paint a Butterfly competition.

Fundraising manager Helen Ryan said: "The day was a great success and raised the awareness and profile of Meadow House. We would like to thank everyone involved and we are looking forward to next year."

Traders who gave donations or support included: Carr's Fishmonger,

Present Company, Pitshanger Bookshop, Ray's Fruit Bowl, Lisa's Restaurant, Rogers and Co, the Village Pantry, Pitshanger Bakery, Brendon's Auctioneers and the Rotary Club of Hanwell and Northfields.

The event was sponsored by John Martin Estates, which is designing new marketing material to promote the Meadow House extension campaign.
