Full recap following robberies in Stanwell

To recap, police have confirmed that two taxi drivers were robbed at knifepoint in the Stanwell area during the early hours of this morning.

Eight police cars and an ambulance were spotted in Hithermoor Road at around 6am as the second driver was taken to hospital.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward and anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 45180009575

Everything we know so far

Two taxi drivers were robbed at knifepoint in the Stanwell area during the early hours of Friday morning (January 26), police have confirmed.

The first incident happened sometime before 6am when a taxi driver was robbed on Stanwell Moor, Surrey Police said.

A second taxi driver was then assaulted in Hithermoor Road at around 6am. The victim was injured and taken to hospital. His family have been informed.

'Blood on pavement'

A source from the area said it appeared that the incident took place at the old post box on the corner of Hithermoor Road.
He said there was blood on the pavement and it appears that the victim may have then made his way further down Hithermoor Road.

Full Surrey Police statement in knifepoint robberies

Right, here is that statement from Surrey Police in full:

“We are appealing for witnesses following two knifepoint robberies of taxi drivers in Stanwell this morning.

“During the second robbery a man was injured. His family have been informed.

“Sometime before 6 am this morning (26 Jan) a taxi driver was robbed on Stanwell Moor.

“Another taxi driver was assaulted on Hithermoor Road around 6 am this morning (26 Jan). The victim was taken to hospital.”

Detective Inspector Ann Welch said:

“We are currently investigating this serious incident, we need any witnesses to come forward. If you were in the area at the time please get in touch by calling 101 quoting PR/45180009575.”

We’ve just been told by Surrey Police two taxi drivers were robbed at knifepoint in the Stanwell Moor area during the early hours of the morning.

Two cordons

I have just spoken to our reporter at the scene, Matthew Lodge.

He has said that there are two cordons in place, one where a police car is blocking the road at the junction where The Anchor pub is - and a further pedestrian cordon around 50 metres down Hithermoor Road.

Around eight police cars spotted at scene

Stephen Morris, who lives in the area, spoke to Get Surrey about what he saw this morning.

He said:

The police cordon was from the Anchor Pub down to the end corner of Hithermoor Road. One ambulance was on the scene with approximately five to six police cars - and also two down the road.
