Pictures sent in by a reader show young men riding quad bikes and mopeds through the peaceful fields between Harvil Road and Breakspear Road - a popular spot with dog walkers.

The Harefield resident, who did not wish to be named, says the vehicles 'terrorise dogs' and claims the riders gave him 'foul abuse' when he confronted them.

"I just thought you would like to see what we dog walkers have to put up with at weekends and holidays," he told the Gazette.

"[They are] terrorising our dogs - and us - when they are in ski masks doing wheelies beside you as fast as they can. Outrageous."

He says the youths are 'obviously prepared for confrontation'.

"You should have heard the foul abuse I got for taking these pictures."

He called the police on 101 and two sergeants turned up.

"I don't expect they got anywhere near them," he added.

Anti social behaviour has long been a problem that blights the village.

For many summers the area has suffered with similar problems and police have tried to deal with the trouble makers, but they ride off down narrow paths before they can be caught.

A youth project is soon to be launched in the village to give young people more to do.
