SCHOOLCHILDREN are being given the chance to hire bikes in a bid to get more people on two wheels.

Pupils and parents at Berkeley Primary School have been able to hire bikes and scooters on a weekly basis since the school invested in the vehicles last month.

The school, in Cranford Lane, Heston, also holds regular bike and scooter breakfasts where youngsters are rewarded for using pedal power, as well as free bike maintenance sessions.

These are just some of the measures the school has introduced in its bid to improve from 'bronze' to 'gold' status for its School Travel Plan.
