A HILLINGDON Councillor will officially take care of the whole of the capital after being appointed by the Mayor of London to a prestigious post.

Mary O'Connor, Conservative representative for the Hayes ward of Charville, has been appointed as the new chairwoman of the London Health Commission.

Boris Johnson chose her from a list of recommended candidates and she now plans to meet the Mayor of London in preparation to begin her new role.

The London Health Commission regulates the quality of healthcare across the whole of London.

Mrs O'Connor, who used to be nurse, said: "It's great for Hillingdon and great for me personally."
