PARENTS and tots found plenty to entertain them at the official opening of a new children’s centre in Eastcote.

The mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Mary O’Connor, cut the ribbon at Coteford Children’s Centre, in Fore Street, on Friday following a performance by Coteford Infant School’s choir.

The centre, which has been open since September, is the 17th such facility in the borough and provides adult education and employment support services in addition to its nursery.

Fiona O’Mahoney, family support officer, said: “It is lovely because it is universal, it is for all families.

“It is somewhere for mums to come and meet other mums and learn about their children’s development.

“We have been running toddler groups in the last year in church halls and schools and through home visits but this has meant we can expand.”

The building is situated within the grounds of Coteford Infant School.

Headteacher Julia Thomas said: “This has been such a long time coming.

“It is one of the best things to ever happen to Coteford Infant School.”
