Hillingdon Hospital will offer round the clock urgent care facilities it was announced today (Tuesday).

Local GPs from the Hillingdon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said that from the Autumn this year, the Urgent Care Centre at The Hillingdon Hospital will be expanded.

It will be open 24 hours, seven days a week, and will treat around 70,000 patients a year for minor illnesses and injuries. It will also have a larger clinical team including more GPs and expert nurses who will have access to a range of diagnostic services.

Hillingdon CCG has appointed as preferred bidder, a partnership led by Ealing Hospital NHS Trust, to manage and provide the clinical services in the expanded centre.

This partnership also runs the Urgent Care Centre at Northwick Park Hospital .

Dr Mitch Garsin, from the Hillingdon CCG said:

“As a local GP and the Urgent Care Lead for the Governing Body for the Hillingdon CCG, I know that our patients need a more comprehensive Urgent Care Centre, that will cater for their emergency needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“The Centre will treat people who need to see a clinician, but who have a condition that is not serious enough to be treated in an Accident and Emergency department. This means that The Hillingdon Hospital’s highly specialised A&E doctors and nurses can focus on the patients with the most serious injuries and illnesses.

“The partnership we have selected as preferred bidder already successfully runs the Urgent Care Centre at Northwick Park Hospital, and we are confident their clinical expertise and experience will mean Hillingdon residents will receive first class care."
