HAS anyone else become frustrated with the flow of traffic going from Bedfont Lane into Feltham High Street?

When commuters travel down Bedfont Lane the first obstacle that they have to confront is the railway level crossing.

If the gates are closed, there may be an option to go down New Road and try and negotiate the junction on the other side of the railway bridge leading to Hounslow. But, due to the recently introduced 'no right turn' at the junction of Hounslow Road and Harlington Road West, this option is now no good if you wish to go towards Hanworth.

If drivers decide to go over the level crossing, a number of holdups will delay them actually getting on to Feltham High Street. After the level crossing, there will be cars leaving the NCP car park and some pulling out from the takeaway to the left. At the end are traffic lights for turning right on to Feltham High Street.

And there is a pedestrian crossing before the left turn over the bridge. Once a vehicle has got through this crossing, there are other traffic lights for the junction to go down Hanworth Road.

When these go green, oncoming traffic has to pass before a right turn can be made. More often than not, traffic leading into Feltham High Street can be backed up.

When this traffic system was set up, the traffic lights leading from Feltham High Street for the right turn down Hanworth Road had a filter light for turning right. Traffic flowed at a steady pace, and did not back up all the way down to the level crossing.

Removal of the filter has caused the traffic to come to more or less a standstill, especially during the rush hour.

Surely with all these vehicles standing idle, as often happens, people living in the adjacent flats must love the fumes created, and it is hardly good for the environment.

Something needs to be done, as I can only see it getting worse because of bad traffic management.

This can also have a negative effect on local businesses, with

shoppers avoiding Feltham because of the congestion.
