HS2 has said this afternoon that it is 'happy to comply' with the House of Lords direction that it should extend the hybrid bill consultation process.

Submissions can now be made up until a very precise 11.59pm on February 27.Campaigners are liaising with local people and assisting them compile their petition letters. Each submission costs £20.

On Monday, after listening to representations, the Lords' standing committee agreed the extension, effectively re-setting the 56 days to run from January 2-February 27.

Objectors had said 56 days was too little, especially as it straddled the Christmas period. Then omissions from both the printed and online environmental impact assessment and its host of supporting documents brought a formal challenge in Parliament, which both houses have now backed.
