Regeneration work at three Heston schools is set to begin ahead of schedule after being rubber-stamped by education chiefs.

Hounslow Council have finally signed a deal with contractors for major improvements to Heston Community School and the neighbouring infant and sery and junior schools in Heston Road.

Builders are due to begin enabling work before the end of the month, project manager Kam Bhari told the Heston & Cranford Area Committee last Thursday, and construction is set to get underway ahead of the original start date in December.

The £22 million scheme to build a new primary school and a three-storey extension to the secondary school should be ready in time for the start of the school year in 2011.

Parents have waited nearly six years for work to begin since the council first announced plans to rebuild the schools.
