Heston Community School has teamed up with David Cameron's former stomping ground Eton in a bid to help its brainiest pupils.

The brightest 10 per cent of youngsters from the secondary school in Heston Road, Heston, will receive master classes in a variety of subjects at the exclusive college.

Heston is one of six state schools to benefit from the collaboration, which education chiefs hope will encourage more pupils to apply for university.

The Independent State Schools Partnership (ISSP) scheme begins this half-term, when Eton will hold revision classes for 36 students from the schools involved.

Margot Currie, deputy headteacher at Heston, said the top 20 students in a variety of subjects would benefit from the project.
