ARMY cadets in Heston have passed their annual inspection with flying colours.

The centre in Vicarage Farm Road was graded 'above standard' following a visit by Colonel Ian Denison, commandant for NW London, on March 23.

More than sixty youngsters took part in a smart parade and demonstrations of army skills on the day.

Colonel Denison said: "I have been tremendously impressed by your numbers, by your turn out and your enthusiasm you have shown to all your tasks. It is truly inspiring to see a detachment as active as yours.

"None of what you do is possible without the dedication of your leaders here and I am grateful to these volunteers who make it happen for you."

Colonel Denison also announced promotions for a number of cadets present on the day.
Seventeen-year-old twin sisters Shiren and Nikitha Attavar were promoted to Cadet Lance Corporal, along with 16-year-old Jasmeet Gill.

Bahadur Lal, 15, was made Cadet Corporal and 17-year-old Indepal Panesar was promoted to Cadet Staff Sergeant.

Cadet Lance Corporal Bibek Gurung, 15, won the Jaimie Axten Achievers award, and Cadet Lance Corporal Taylor Panesar, 14, was named cadet of the year.

Staff Sergeant Priscilla Ledlie, who has been running the centre since September, said she was 'absolutely delighted' with the result of the inspection.
