AN ACTOR from Heston is hoping to hit the big time after being cast as a villain in a British Bollywood thriller.

Amit Dhut, from Heston, plays a sinister henchman in 7 Welcome to London, which is set to hit screens next month.

The 30-year-old only took up acting two years ago after winning Asiana magazine’s Bachelor of the Year competition in 2009.

The former Isleworth and Syon School pupil has had small parts in EastEnders and Crimewatch, as well as appearing on stage, but this is his biggest role yet.

“I’m really excited about this film. I believe it will open people’s eyes to a new spectrum of Bollywood films and hopefully attract a whole new audience,” he said.

“It’s not your typical all-singing, all-dancing Bollywood film, although it does have music. It’s a fast-paced thriller, packed with action and romance, with a mixture of Hindi and English. If you liked Slumdog Millionaire, you’ll like this.”

7 Welcome to London, shot in the capital’s East End, follows a young Indian immigrant who meets the girl of his dreams on the Tube but ends up falling in with the wrong crowd as he tries to win her heart.

Amit studied electronic engineering at Coventry University then went on to a number of jobs, including working as a security guard at Heathrow, before setting his heart on acting.

He studied at the London Academy of Media, Film and TV before joining the Actors Centre, in Leicester Square, where he is still learning the trade.

Although he enjoys Bollywood, his dream is to one day appear in a James Bond film.
