Could I please take this opportunity to say thank you to David Brough for taking on the new future of Hayes Town.

If anyone can turn Hayes into a thriving shopping centre and a safe place to live,he can.

With his knowledge and contacts that he has made over the last 38 years working for the local authority he has all the right qualifications.

It would also help if the public, workers and visitors to Hayes Town contact Mr Brough to let him know what they would like to see in the new Hayes - he can only work wonders but miracles will take him a bit longer.

I myself would like to see a cleaner town centre, not only of litter and graffiti, but air pollution. Cars park in the High Street with their engines running whilst [drivers] go to a cash point machine,or because there is no parking space available. A new coat of paint on the street furniture with some new street signs would also brighten up the town.

For the older generation it might be nice to have a free local bus that could take them home from the town after doing their shopping. Would a new public toilet and more new seating areas help?

A 24 hour A&E medical centre, a youth career and drop in centre, 24 hour security and policing.

The list is endless but unless you let Mr Brough know what your priorities are he has no crystal ball.

And he is giving his time and energy completely voluntarily.

Thank you Mr Brough, from a proud resident of Hayes.
