HEALTH services in the borough were largely unaffected by today's doctors strike.

All GP surgeries were open and urgent care was not disrupted.

There were reduced services at some surgeries, NHS North West London said, which involved some non-urgent appointments being rescheduled.

The BMA, which is the trade union for doctors, called the 24-hour strike action over changes to pensions, which they say will force doctors to work for longer and make larger contributions.

The association has not released figures of how many doctors in the borough are taking action but has said that about a third of GP surgeries around the country are taking part.
