A COMMUNITY radio station is celebrating its one year anniversary and looking back on what it has achieved.

Hayes FM 91.8 was first launched on September 1 of last year and since then has provided listeners with live broadcasts and music. It has also worked with more than 120 community groups and offered 140 work experience placements to volunteers.

Sutish Sharma, managing editor, said: "I'm hugely proud of what we have achieved, especially in the last four months, and we have done it by keeping true to the values and ethos of the organisation while giving respect and integrity to the area we serve. I would like to thank everyone who has given us their time.

"Over the next 12 months Hayes FM will bring to air local debates and discussions, community question times and continue to work closely with all our friends and partners in our area, across the country, across Europe, South Asia and the North America. The aim is to interact with people just like you and I, so get involved!!

"Radio like the written word, has huge power to effect positive change, and that is what Hayes FM is all about, so in the year ahead the aim is very much to act locally but think globally."
