Mittens, a long-hair type named by Vickie's son, Lyndon, went AWOL from the family home in Iver Lane, Cowley on Monday (March 5), and Vickie is asking Gazette readers not only to keep an eye out but to search their gardens and outbuildings.

The missing moggy, aged about 18 months to two years old, has never gone off on his own before.

"He's an indoor cat and he hates going out. He gets beaten up by other cats," said Vickie, who is offering a reward for Mittens's safe return.

"I haven't got much money, but anything to get him back," she said.

Vickie said she has called the Missing Pet Register, the environmental health department at Hillingdon Council and the RSPCA. Mittens was not microchipped, nor did he have a collar, so if he is found it might be down to luck that the family is reunited.

Vickie is asking for any information about Mittens to be passed to her via the Gazette, 'even if it upsets me.'
