THE NEW Tory administration have announced the cabinet which leader Councillor Susan Hall says will deliver a cleaner, safer, and fairer Harrow.

Ms Hall was elected leader on Monday evening following a vote of no confidence in Independent Labour's Thaya Idaikkadar.

The new leader said: "This new Conservative cabinet brings both a wealth of experience and some new faces to the table, all of whom share the ability and determination to deliver a cleaner, safer and fairer Harrow for our residents."

The creation of two new positions, a separate portfolio for health and wellbeing, and a portfolio for business and enterprise, is the eye-catching aspect of Ms Hall's cabinet, alongside that it will include two non-voting members from rival parties including former leader Mr Idaikkadar, and Labour leader David Perry.

Ms Hall added: "We also welcome the increased scrutiny that will come from having opposition councillors as non-executive observers on cabinet, as we’re all keen to be kept on our toes. My colleagues and I are already hard at work, and will be unveiling more of our plans in the coming weeks."

The cabinet is as follows:

Susan Hall (Leader) – Community, Safety and Environment

Barry Macleod-Cullinane (Deputy Leader) – Adults and Housing

Tony Ferrari – Finance

Kamaljit Chana – Business and Enterprise

Stephen Greek – Planning, Development and Regeneration

Manji Kara – Community and Culture

Janet Mote – Children and Schools

Paul Osborn – Communications, Performance and Resources

Simon Williams – Health and Wellbeing

Stephen Wright – Property and Major Contracts
