In 2008 a middle-aged commando team from Harrow was sent to Hyde Park for a flight they didn't complete.

Today, still drying themselves off, they survive as soldiers of fortunes.

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and you can find them in the Serpentine, maybe you can hire... The A Team.

Well, that could be the introduction of a remake of 80s classic The A Team, if the cast was made up of a four man team from Harrow which threw itself of f a six metre high platform on Saturday (07), in this year's Red Bull Flugtag event.

Led by 40-year-old Kevin Fahy, the team dressed as their favourite characters from the iconic series, got into their homemade replica of the famed GMC van and attempted to fly into the Serpentine in Hyde Park, London along with 40 other teams.

They may not have quite taken off but they certainly enjoyed themselves.

Mr Fahy, of Clewer Crescent, Harrow Weald, who dressed as Murdoch from the hit show said: " We had the most spectacular crash, having pushed the van down the runway with me in the drivers seat we hit the end and just did a loop da loop. It was great.

"It was done as a bit of fun, and the four of us just got together to have a bit of a laugh. We knew it wouldn't fly but it really didn't matter."

The team actually came 36th out of 41 teams but Mr Fahy said it was more about the occasion as opposed to the result.

He added: "It actually took about six weeks to make. A lot of evenings and weekends as well as about £700 but it was well worth it.

"To have our friends and families down at Hyde Park cheering us on was fantastic. It was a great atmosphere and everyone was there for a bit of fun which is great - having said that I would never do it again."

More than 80,000 people packed out Hyde Park to witness the event's return to London for the first time in five years.

The judging panel, which included Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel-Horwood, BBC Fame Academy's Carrie Grant and model Jodie Kidd, gave points for creativity, performance and distance flown - with the winners gliding for an impressive 17.5 metres.

Highlights from the Red Bull Flugtag 2008 will be broadcast on ITV4 on Sunday (June 15) and ITV1 on Monday, June 23.
