Local Harrow swim schools took part in a friendly swim gala as the pool announced it will be open 24-hours-a-day this summer.

On Saturday (May 16), Harrow, Hatch End, Northolt, Acton and Vale Farm Everyone Active swim schools competed in a swim gala to find out which team is top dog.

The gala, hosted by Everyone Active, was held at Harrow Leisure Centre for swimmers aged between seven and 15, and Harrow's swim team came out on top.

The winners are to be selected to compete in the regional gala, at Watford Woodside on July 4.

Lyanne Harry, swim manager of Ealing, Harrow and Brent said: “The day was a huge success. Not only did all the children have a great time and push themselves to do their best, but we also raised £100 for the Anthony Nolan charity.”

As summer approaches, Everyone Active - in partnership with Harrow and Brent councils, Harrow Leisure Centre and Vale Farm Sports Centre - will be open 24-hours-a-day on select days from June 8 to July 16.

Harrow Leisure Centre will be open 24 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays while Vale Farm Sports Centre will be open around the clock on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Chris Williams, Everyone Active Manager at Vale Farm Sports Centre, said: “We recognise that some of our members lead very busy lives and don’t always get the chance to go to the gym when they’d like to.

“With summer coming up, many people are keen to step up their fitness programme so by keeping the centres open for 24 hours four days a week, our members will be able to come to the centre whenever suits them.”
