Harrow Observer snapper Stuart Emmerson has been named news photographer of the year at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Harrow Observer snapper Stuart Emmerson has been named news photographer of the year at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Mr Emmerson won the title at the EDF Energy London and South West Regional Media awards on Thursday last week.

He said: "Harrow and Brent provide a great range of opportunities for photographs, from school events to police raids or football matches.

"The challenge is to try to find a fresh angle that will capture the imagination. It was a great honour to receive the award."
