FOR all those who thought that the tradition of families watching British wrestling died out with Giant Haystacks, there is a Harrow man who is about to tell you different.

By day, 22-year-old Nathan Neumann, a recent political science graduate from the prestigious University of Bristol, is a quiet, polite, almost diffident national accounts manager for discount giants Groupon.

But by night, the well-built, five feet seven inch man from Canons Park becomes Nate Nitro – a cruiserweight American-style wrestler with British sporting company Total Action Wrestling (TAW) – and he is bringing just that sort of action to Pinner next month.

“I graduated a year ago, moved back to London and thought I'd take up wrestling,” he told the Observer. “So I found a training school in Milton Keynes.”

This training facility was set up seven years ago by Steve Biggs, a 34-year-old Harrow native who wrestles under the name Samson and who is very impressed with Nathan's progress.

“Nathan's very exciting in the ring,” says Biggs, who is now based in Luton. “He's a smaller guy, so he's more agile than the others, but he has a great physique, so he has the power too.”

TAW's style is based on American entertainment wrestling, and Nathan says the performers mix athletic skill with theatrics to provide a good night's fun.

“It's really family oriented so there's nothing too violent,” he says.

Former Stanmore College student Nathan regularly performs to crowds of over 200 in venues around Bedfordshire, Bucks and Herts, but he is delighted to be bringing the sport back to his home borough.

“They used to do a lot of wrestling in venues like Brent Town Hall, with stars like Steve Lee Curtis.”

But now, thanks to Nathan, his troupe is coming to Pinner Green Social Club on October 1, with an array of colourful wrestlers promising a “Rumble on the Green”.

“There are all kinds of performers in there,” says Steve Biggs “from the likes of Nathan to camp, pantomime characters like Pretty Boy Brad Ford.”

Nathan has promised a really fun night's family entertainment, so to see him and a raft of other athletes perform at the event, go to www.wegottickets.com and search for “Wrestling Pinner” - tickets are ?9 for adults, £7 concession and ?30 for a family of four (two adult, two concession).?
