A community radio station is supporting an anti-stigma mental health programme.

The Time to Talk campaign aims to inspire conversations about the taboo subject of mental health, and Harrow Community Radio, based in The Wealdstone Centre in High Street, Wealdstone, will be hosting a dedicated day of discussion on Thursday (today) from 9am until 5pm.

Robert Lewis, a host from Harrow Community Radio which is ran by volunteers, said: “We really want the people of Harrow to get involved with Time to Talk Day as well and find out more about mental health."

The day is part of Time to Change’s campaign to show that small steps with mental health can make all the difference.

Harrow Community Radio will be live all day with interviews from the team coordinating the campaign, and those directly affected by mental health.

Sue Baker, director of Time to Change, said: “Mental health problems affect one in four of us and yet many people suffer in silence because as a population we are too afraid to talk about the subject.

"We know that just a few small words can sometimes make the biggest difference, whether that’s over a cup of tea and a chat or a text message from someone asking how you are.

“We’re really excited about the enthusiasm for Time to Talk Day, but we need even more people to take part.”
