MILLIONS of people watched a singer from Harefield successfully audition in The X Factor.

Katie Waissel (pictured), 24, of Dairy Farm Lane, stunned judges in Saturday night's launch show with a rendition of the Etta James song, At Last.

Bookies are already offering odds of between 10/1 and 20/1 that Etta wins the competition.

She had a topsy-turvy audition, with head judge Simon Cowell telling her to change her song to Queen's We Are The Champions, then relenting.

Katie, who works in Ruislip, is through to the 'boot camp' stage of the show, in which 150 hopefuls are put through their paces before judges select the final 12.

When the Gazette called round this week, Katie said she was not allowed to comment about The X Factor, but said: "I love Harefield."
